As part of Cash-Pro's on-going compliance training program, December is designated as HIPAA month. This year, Cash-Pro employees underwent American Collector’s Association's new "HIPAA Essentials for Collectors" training. This training is tailored to the Business Associates (vendors) that support Covered Entities (hospitals, doctor’s offices, etc.).
The interactive video covers a variety of topics including
-Definitions and examples of what constitutes protected health information (PHI)
-Defining who is able to access PHI and when
-Storing, accessing, and disposing of PHI compliantly
-Minimizing both physical and electronic security risks
-Keeping medical information separate and secure when collecting on non-medical accounts for the same consumer
In order to receive a certification of completion, each employee was tested on the information provided in the video at the end of the training.
Throughout the year, Cash-Pro uses the KnowledgeSource program to reinforce employees’ knowledge on a variety of compliance-based subjects. Employees who have a high enough percentage of correctly answered KnowledgeSource questions qualify for Gold Club standard of compliance knowledge.
Cash-Pro understands the importance and value of continuous education and we are proud to partner with ACA International and KnowledgeSource for our compliance training.
